For years in the education feild, I had decided I wanted to pursue something a little different, something unique, where I could spend time creating a form of art. I remember asking the question “what brought me so much joy as a child, and what still brings me joy today?” I remembered times with my grandmother, when we visited her, she’d transform her dining area so simply with a table cloth, candles and bring out little delft blue and white egg holders. She would place wine glasses on the table and doilies under the bowls of fruit. Then she would place fresh flowers on the table, and in no time we were drinking from china tea cups originally from Holland where my grandmother had grown up. It was more than a sweet little time with our grandmother, it was story time, a time filled with culture, and togetherness. It was a warm type feeling time, and with those simple touches it made space for us in a special way. I still remember being amazed by those little china egg holders and how that egg looked so cute in it. I remember thinking how mom mom could just transform things into special moments in seconds.
